Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ)
I am very concerned
about looking “deer in the headlights” – how can I be
sure that my results will be natural?
The major trend today in plastic surgery is a natural result. Looking
at Dr. Kelly’s photo book will reassure patients that natural conservative
results are favored. Making clear with Dr Kelly your expectations and
undergoing computer imaging helps to ensure that results obtained
are results expected.
Is surgery painful?
Most surgery is not a painful experience – while everyone has different
thresholds Dr. Kelly’s gentle touch technique and
use of a microscope for all suture removal and small nasal pads after
nasal surgery minimize the discomfort issue.
Why should Dr. Kelly, a Facial
Plastic Surgeon, perform my facial procedure?
Dr Kelly is a unique physician in that he is double board certified
by the American Academy of Otolaryngolgy – Head and Neck Surgery
and the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery. All of his efforts are
concentrated in the face and neck with his training from the moment he
finished medical school devoted to medical and surgical treatment of facial
and neck troubles whether they be functional or cosmetic. The procedures
that are offered at Peconic Facial Plastic Surgery are ones that Dr. Kelly
has performed many, many times with good outcomes and happy patients.
What procedure is best for me – how
will I know what to ask about?
Your consult with Dr. Kelly is very inclusive and begins
with the simple question of what bothers you most about your appearance.
Once this is established, Dr. Kelly will offer to you, the patient,
options to address this concern. Finally, Dr. Kelly will take your photograph
and place you on the imaging computer and later will send you images
marked before and after depicting goals for surgery. The toughest part
of the whole process will be choosing which procedures to schedule and
when the best time for your surgery will be.
I have a long history of being out in the sun
and have notice skin changes on my face and a “pimple” that
won’t heal. Should I have the ENT/Facial Plastic surgeon look
at my face to ensure that I don’t have the skin cancer caused
by excessive sun shine?
Absolutely – skin cancer is the most common cancer
in the world with an increasing number of diagnoses. Any skin lesion
or sore that doesn’t heal should be evaluated earlier rather than
later. The facial plastic surgeon can evaluate the lesion with his microscope
and help you to make decisions about treatment. He can also offer state
of the art reconstruction of facial defect
